West Coast CEO Trevor Nisbett has asked fans to “bear with us” amid uncertainties over crowd numbers for Sunday’s Western Derby.

Eagles Chief Executive Officer Trevor Nisbett has requested fans stay patient as the club tries to navigate crowd capacity uncertainties ahead of Sunday’s Western Derby.

With Perth slowly emerging from a snap COVID-19 lockdown this week, restrictions will remain in place till 12:01 am on Saturday.

That has left many Eagles fans scratching their heads over whether this weekend’s Western Derby will go ahead with fans in attendance.

“Please bear with us and, if you can, please refrain from contacting our membership services team to ask about RAC Derby ticketing, as they will be working remotely to try to achieve the best outcomes possible,” Nisbett penned in an open letter displayed on the club website on Tuesday morning.

After the Optus Stadium recently had its capacity restrictions lifted to 100 per cent, fans were once again locked out of the stadium last weekend, with the Dockers facing off against North Melbourne in front of an empty stadium last Saturday.

And it is still not certain whether fans will be allowed back for round 7.

“The simple answer is that we don’t know,” said the Eagles’ CEO. “And we don’t expect we will know anything for at least a couple of days.

“As we have learned from previous instances of changes to Optus Stadium capacity, even once a decision is made by the authorities, it takes a little time to translate what that means in reality.

“We’re not speculating on what might occur, but we will work with Optus Stadium to best prepare for any contingency.”

Aside from last weekend’s ANZAC Day Match, The Optus Stadium had set the biggest crowd attendance since the 2019 AFL Grand Final at the MCG, with 54,159 fans in attendance at the Eagles round five win against Collingwood two weeks ago.

With a sellout crowd expected for Sunday’s match, Trevor Nisbett has warned that any decisions on crowd attendances could be made at late notice.

“We will post any updates in the Frequently Asked Questions section of our website here:
